By Andrew Chapman

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Quakes fans packed LoanMart Field on Tuesday night as a sellout crowd watched the Quakes win their eighth straight and clinch a five-game series sweep over the 66ers with a 4-1 victory.

Dodgers RHP Walker Buehler joined the Quakes on a major league rehab assignment and the offense backed him with an early lead.

Gavin Lux opened the scoring with a solo home run against 66ers starting pitcher Jeremy Beasley in the first pushing Rancho in front 1-0.

Buehler worked three scoreless frames on 36 total pitches and entered in the fourth looking for more. Brandon Marsh knocked the Dodgers right-hander for a triple and Buehler was replaced by reliever Austin Hamilton.

Julian Leon quickly plated Marsh on a sacrifice fly, a run against Buehler’s record that tied the game at 1-1. Buehler finished the night with three complete innings of work, allowing one walk and striking out five on 41 pitches.

Rancho jumped back into the lead during the fifth as Nick Yarnall doubled and scored on a Lux two-base hit to give Rancho the outright 2-1 advantage. Yarnall added insurance with the bases loaded in the sixth, singling to drive home a pair and make it 4-1

The Quakes pieced together a strong bullpen effort behind three perfect innings from Hamilton and two scoreless frames from Andre Scrubb. Michael Boyle entered in the ninth and struck out two as he recorded his third save on the season.

Hamilton (1-0) recorded the victory in his California League debut while Beasley was saddled with the loss for Inland Empire (3-2). Following the win the Quakes have now won eight consecutive games and continue with the league’s best record in the second-half at 11-2.

The Quakes depart the friendly confines of LoanMart Field and head to San Jose to take on the Giants in a five-game series beginning on July 4th. The Quakes will send LHP Leo Crawford (1-0) to the mound in his first start of the season and San Jose will counter with RHP Logan Webb (1-2).
