Cal League Baseball: Quakes Shuts Out Lake Elsinore Again 1-0

Rancho Cucamonga Takes Third Straight from the Storm

By Mike Lindskog

Lake Elsinore, CA – Rancho Cucamonga’s run of dominant pitching continued on Thursday night, as the Quakes earned their third consecutive shutout with a two-hit, 1-0 victory over the Storm.

The four-game series featured a shutout in all four contests, with the Quakes outscoring the Storm 12-0 over the final three games, giving Rancho their fourth straight series win overall.

The only run of the game came in the sixth against Storm starter Ronald Bolanos (3-5), as Cody Thomas opened the frame with a double, then scored on Cristian Santana’s RBI single.

Quakes’ starter Parker Curry (5-1) enjoyed his best outing of the year, scattering two hits over five scoreless innings to net the win.

The bullpen was fantastic as well, as Logan Salow, Marshall Kasowski and Michael Boyle combined to go the final four, holding the Storm without a hit over their four frames. Boyle earned his second save by finishing it off, helping Rancho to their seventh overall shutout.

As a team, the Quakes have not allowed a run over their last 32.2 innings, a stretch that started over the final two outs of the third inning in Monday’s loss to the Storm.

Rancho (41-37, 6-2) will look for a fourth straight win overall on Friday night, as they open a five-game series against the Inland Empire 66ers. Former Quake Garrett Richards of the Los Angeles Angels is scheduled to throw for Inland Empire on a rehab assignment, while Tony Gonsolin (3-2) will go for Rancho.

Kike Hernandez Bobbleheads will be given away to 1,500 fans on Friday, June 29th, all thanks to Daisy IT. Game time is 7:05pm and gates open at 6:05pm. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at Go Quakes!
