San Jose, CA– The San Jose Giants slugged three home runs on Saturday evening, defeating the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes by a final of 6-3 at Municipal Stadium.

Quakes’ starter Felipe Gonzalez was touched for a pair of long-balls, as the Quakes saw their two-game winning streak come to an end, falling to 4-2 through the first six games of the seven-game road trip.

The Quakes got on the board first against Giants’ starter Cory Taylor (1-0), as Erick Mejia singled and later scored on an RBI single from Matt Beaty.

The Giants answered against Quakes’ starter Felipe Gonzalez in the third, as Dylan Davis connected for his 15th homer of the year and the first of three on the night for San Jose, making it a 1-1 game.

Gonzalez gave up four more in the fourth, including a three-run blast to Ronnie Jebavy, giving San Jose a 5-1 lead.

Chris Anderson replaced Gonzalez (2-6) in the fifth and pitched well over a season-high three relief innings, but gave up a solo home run to Miguel Gomez in the fifth, as that gave the Giants a 6-1 advantage.

Rancho tallied the final two runs of the game in the sixth, as Johan Mieses and Ariel Sandoval each had a run-scoring hit, making it 6-3. That’s as close as the Quakes would come, as the Giants bullpen shut Rancho down the rest of the way. Reyes Moronta worked around an errror in the ninth, striking out the side for his 13th save.

The Quakes (29-27, 71-55) will send Tommy Bergjans (2-13) to the hill in Sundays rubber-game, while the Giants will counter with Jordan Johnson (8-8) at 5:00pm.

After the seven-game road trip concludes, your Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 23rd for another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans that bring ten CRV-eligible bottles or cans will receive a free Club Seat Ticket to the game. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field very soon … Go Quakes!
