CIF Football: Rancho Christian Crushes Franklin 56-21 and is Headed to the California State Championship

The “Underdog” Eagles Power Past the Panthers and will face the Amador Buffaloes Next Week

thumbnail_dsc_0348Rancho Christian’s star keeps shining brighter and brighter each week. The Eagles overcame every obstacle that the Panthers threw in their path to the State Championship. An early interception on Rancho Christian’s first possession by Franklin senior linebacker Daniel Celis put the Panthers up 7 points. But the Eagles soared right back into the game.thumbnail_dsc_0337

 

 

Junior running back Jaden Schieberl , who has carried the Eagles through most of the playoffs, busted loose for a 56 yard run touchdown. The Eagles went ahead 8-7 on junior Elijah Campbell‘s successful 2-point conversion.

Franklin came right back, driving downfield and scoring on a 20 yard dash by senior Martin Hurtado to make it 13-8. That would be the last time that the Panthers would lead in Friday night’s California State Regional 6-AA Playoff Game. The Eagles went on to score 40 unanswered points to put the game away.

thumbnail_dsc_0402Rancho Christian junior quarterback Carter Treadway tossed two touchdown passes, one to JoJo Saatzer and another to junior Trevor Jones. Elijiah Campbell scored three touchdowns and gained 117 yards on 11 carries.

Schieberl continued to stay hot and ignite the Eagles. He scored twice and rushed for 174 yards. Sophomore Maloisi Napoleon ran for 29 yards and scored the Eagles final touchdown. Junior place kicker Emma Baker nailed a 35 yard field goal and connected on all three of her PAT attempts.

15129068_10154126050055678_8338839421994178073_oSophomore Hunter Rapolla had 2 sacks while senior Brent Owens, Campbell and Alvarez had one apiece. Treadway also had an interception for Rancho Christian.

Franklin senior quarterback Mario Bobadilla completed 20 of his 37 passes for 206.Seniors David Telles caught 4 passes for 80 yards and Lionel Santiago hauled in 7 for 71 yards. Daniel Celis also caught a pass for his second TD.thumbnail_dsc_0197

 

Rancho Christian advances to the State Title Game against Amador from Sutter Creek. Game details will be posted as soon as the CIF releases them.
