The Bronco 2016 Season Comes to an End at Home

15170891_1136177736502338_329243724965188569_nVista Murrieta put up a grand fight,but it was not enough against Mater Dei, whose football team is ranked number one in the State and second in the Nation by Maxpreps. The Broncos 2016 season ended as they fell 63-30 at home in the quarerfinal round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 Championship Playoffs.15109460_1136177726502339_4869226606357592636_n

The Monarchs moved the ball almost at will as quarterback J.T. Daniels completed 23 of his 41 passes for 422-yards. The sophomore threw five touchdown passes against a tough Broncos secondary.

15037289_1136177619835683_8048986289396253565_nJunior Amon-Ra St. Brown led Mater Dei with six catches, two for touchdowns and a total of 166 yards. Shakobe Harper scored twice on the ground for the Monarchs.

Mater Dei scored twice in the first quarter before the Broncos got on the board with a 17-yard run by senior Cole Dubotts. The Monarchs then rolled off consecutive touchdowns to take a 35-7 lead at the half.

15055704_1136177713169007_2278512918252887064_nVista Murrieta scored a safety in the third quarter and then quarterback Karson Greeley pumped a little life back into the Broncos when he connected with Khalil Shakir for a touchdown pass to make it 35-16. Daniels then led the Monarchs to 2 consecutive scores to make it 49-16 and it was all but over.

The Broncos, playing for pride, managed to score two more times against the number one defense in the State. The Monarchs advance to the quarterfinal round of the CIF SS Division 1 Playoffs next Friday.

They will face off against Rancho Cucamonga who ran past Mission Viejo 42-36 Friday night.
