College Softball: Cal State San Bernardino Falls to Sonoma State 7-3 in the CCAA Championship Game

The Coyotes Get Home Runs from Morgan Ratliff, Sydney Kreimann & Haley Finn in the Loss

The Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes, the sixth seed in the tournament, advanced to final game of the CCAA Championships. The Coyotes fell in the title game on Sunday morning, 3-7 to Sonoma State.

The Yotes led 2-1 into the fifth, but the Seawolves scored six runs over the last three innings to claim the title.

Sydney Kreimann

Morgan Ratliff tied the game in the bottom of the first with a homer and Sydney Kreimann put the Yotes ahead 2-1 with a solo shot in the second. Haley Finn hit the final homer in the seventh.

Offensively the Yotes had five hits, with Kreimann getting two including a double. Samantha Vacko also doubled. In the circle, Bailey Powell was solid through four and two-thirds and kept the Yotes in the game, allowing four runs on five hits.

Kendra O’Cull, Kreimann, and were all selected All-Tournament.

“I grew a lot this year,” O’Cull said. “I gained confidence from my coaches and teammates throughout the year, and I am excited to continue working.”

The Coyotes are 29-20 overall and wee 20-16 in conference play. Cal State San Bernardino is on the bubble on earning a regional bid. They will find out at 10 am today.
