Girls Basketball: Murrieta Mesa Stomps Bell in the Opening Round of the Glendora Christmas Tournament

Maitland Kingsley Leads the Rams with 25 Points, 10 Rebounds & 8 Steals

Murrieta Mesa got off to a great start Wednesday in the Opening Round of the Glendora Christmas Tournament. The Rams were lead by junior Maitland Kingsley and sophomore Rayven Crook as Murrieta improved to 4-8 under new head coach Doug Ravasdy.

Murrieta Mesa jumped out to a 23-7 lead in the first period. The Rams overwhelmed Bell in the second period, shutting out the Eagles 18-0 to take a commanding 41-7 lead at the half. The final score was 60-19.

Maitland Kingsley scored 25 points grabbed 10 rebounds and had 8 steals against the Eagles. Rayven Crook added 16 points while sophomore Kayli Klemp and junior Shelbee Burrier each scored 5 points.

The foursome of juniors Amanda Gonzalez, Sedaja Dixon, Kaylee Van Betuw and sophomore Sydney Ormiston put 4 points through the hoop for Mesa. Van Betuw also had 8 rebounds.

The Rams fell to Chino Hills 54-39 in the second round despite 22 points from Kingsley. Murrieta Mesa faces Rancho Verde in third round action tonight.
