This Unique Creation can be Found at the Pechanga Resort & Casino…But only for the Next Two Days
The tempura “skyline” arrives at your table in a host of different shapes, sizes and species. And it would be impressive in and of itself if that was all that came with one of Umi Sushi & Oyster Bar Chef Kiyo Ikeda’s unique creations.
But this skyline comes with its own “beach” – a bubbling pot of Sage Derby cheese.
Say a tasty “hello” to Tempura Fondue – the latest culinary creation from the versatile mind of Ikeda, who came up with the unique item as both a way to celebrate National Tempura Day and to fulfill his never-ending purpose of creating dishes that are different, delectable and dynamic to Pechanga Resort Casino’s guests.
This experience, which is available only until Jan. 10, brings Ikeda back to this Japanese roots. He selected the items for the tempura because they are all familiar, versatile and tasty items he worked with when he started running his father’s restaurant outside of Tokyo.
From the sea, there’s shrimp and soft-shell crab wrapped in a tempura batter with a potato and carrot, and Panko-breaded salmon. From the garden, Ikeda has gone the seasonal route with asparagus, yams, shimeji mushrooms, micro carrots and lotus root.
Together, this tempura skyline and its “beach” gives Pechanga guests another reason to enjoy a restaurant voted the No. 2 casino restaurant in the United States by the readers and reviewers of USA Today.
