Great Oak Falls to Mater Dei 8-0 in the CIF SS Championship Quarterfinals



The Wolfpacks’ Amazing 2016 Season Come to an End

13244872_10207985546428337_3910856842301353405_nThe Southwestern League Champion Wolfpacks’ big bats fell silent Friday, Monarch senior pitcher Gabby Sandoval scattered eight hits while shutting out Great Oak as Mater Dei won 8-0 in their 2016 CIF Southern Section Quarterfinal game.

13254302_10207985546748345_7652487468323589366_nThe Monarchs broke it open in the second inning as the scored 6 runs and chased Wolfpack starter Autumn Storms out of the circle. Mater Dei was aggressive at the plate and Maddison Flores used the hard infield to chop a singlel up the middle to bring in the first two runs. With 2 outs, the Monarchs’ Kelli Godin and Neli Casares-Maher knocked in 3 more with back-to-back singles.

“Autumn did what she usually does, keep the ball on the ground” said Great Oak Coach Davis Mercado. “This is a hard infield, and the balls bounced through. That was a tough inning to bounce back from.”

13260035_10207985546988351_1765100428109935132_nSophomore Sydney Presley came in to pitch 3 innings of relief and Paulina Johnson one for the Wolfpack. Presley gave up the final 2 Monarch runs  Emma Clark scored in the fourth on Yaritza Felix’s single and Hannah Wessel was driven in by Nayomi Jones in the fifth.

The Wolfpack ends the season with a 17-7 record overall
