Hemet: Riverside County Animal Control Officer Suffers Minor Injuries in Wednesday’s Hit & Run


The Suspect Exited the Chevrolet Suburban & Fled the Scene on a Skateboard

On Wednesday at about 4 pm a Riverside County animal control officer was involved in a hit-and-run collision. The victim was identified as Officer Harvey Beck according to Department of Animal Services Public Information Officer John Welsh.

The collision occurred at the intersection of State Street and Stetson Avenue. He was driving his SUV north on State Street, headed to the county’s San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus. A Chevrolet Suburban sped out of a parking lot and slammed into the passenger side of his vehicle.

The driver of the Suburban exited the vehicle and fled the scene on a skateboard.

Beck suffered minor injuries to his right thumb and ankle and was sent to a local hospital.

No animals were in his SUV at the time of the collision.
