Holy Fire: Now at 18,200 Acres as Fire Intensifies Still Only 5 Percent Contained

Thousands Forced from their Homes

Over 20,000 people are forced from their homes as Southern California dangerous Holy Fire intensified overnight. The wildfire set by an arsonist has burned over18,000 acres in Orange and Riverside counties and there is no end in sight.

Governor Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency for Riverside and Orange counties. Cal Fire Battalion Chief Tim Chavez says firefighters have a long battle ahead and expects the fire to grow.”The homes are really in danger, otherwise we would not pull the evacuation trigger,” he said.

Several communities in Southwest Riverside County are still threatened.
