Senior Ryan Dipoma was Named Most Valuable Player of the Tournament
Linfield Christian traveled to San Diego last week and competed in the Lions Baseball tournament. The Lions won 5 straight games and won the Division 2 Championship. Senior Ryan Dipoma was also named as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
“We played very good team baseball with only two errors in 5 games” said Linfield Christian Baseball Coach Dave Renno. “The pitching staff was incredible…throwing 5 straight complete games in the tourney and only allowing 5 runs. We play in Division 3 in the CIF Southern Section but in the tournament, we were in 2A.”
The Lions began the tournament by beating Roybal HS on Monday 1-0. They then defeated Mission Vista 6-1 Tuesday and edged El Dorado from Placerville 6-1 Wednesday.
On the final day of the Tournament the Lions shut out Chula Vista’s Castle Park 4 – 0. Linfield Christian then beat Holtville 3-1 in the Championship game Thursday
Senior Ryan Dipoma was also named as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. “Ryan was great on the mound. He threw a complete game shutout in the opener and then won the championship game with another complete game”.
Linfield Christian will be home to battle Ambassador league rival Woodcrest Christian from Riverside on Tuesday, April 3. Game time is 3:30 pm.
