HS Baseball: Paloma Valley Crushes Lakeside 23-2 Wednesday… Slips Past the Lancers 5-2 Friday

Joneil Yanga Hits A Grand Slam while Jordan Daniels Homers in Wednesday’s Win

Paloma Valley unloaded on Lakeside High School Wednesday, scoring a season high 23 runs as they crushed the Lancers. The Wildcat offence was lead by Joneil Yanga who went 2 for 3 with a grand slam. He also hit a two run double.

Catcher Jordan Daniels got into the action with a two run homer of his own.

Trevor Bateson evened his record to 3 and 3 in his 4 innings of work. He gave up 4 hits and 2 runs. He also had 8 strike outs. Lakeside was led by Andrew Razo and Cody Blackmon with 2 hits each.

On Friday, Paloma Valley beat the Lancers 5-2. Unlike Wednesday, this one turned into a pitching duel. Jake Umathum pitched the first 4 innings of the contest, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs. Umathum had 6 strike outs.

Cade Swenson came in to close it for the Wildcats. He got the save with 3 strong innings and only gave up one hit. Swenson had 2 strike outs.

The offensive star of the game was Jake Umathum. The pitcher helped his own cause with a double and a single. Hayden Fraunce also had a single and a double.

Lancers Cody Blackmon pitcher got the loss. He threw a complete game and struck out 5.

Paloma Valley will be at Elsinore on Wednesday, April 25. Lakeside is home to face rival Temescal Canyon.
