HS Baseball: Paloma Valley Defeats Perris Twice this Week

The Wildcats Shut Out Perris 7-0 Wednesday & Slip Past the Panthers 3-2 Friday

Paloma Valley improved their Sunbelt league record to 8-5 with a couple of victories over Perris this week. The Wildcats are now in third place, a game behind Temescal Canyon. Paloma Valley finishes the regular season with 2 tough games against first place Heritage next week.

On Wednesday Paloma Valley easily defeated Perris 7-0. Sunbelt strikeout leader Trevor Bateson threw 6 shut out innings and striking out 11. The senior only gave up 2 hits.

The offence was lead by Joneil Yanga going 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run and 2 RBIs. Chase Castor also went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Chris Gallegos pitched 5 innings and ended up with the loss for Perris. Edward Ventura pitched an inning of relief.

On Friday, the Wildcats won it in extra innings. It took Paloma Valley 8 innings behind another strong pitching performance by Jake Umathum. Umathum pitched 6 strong innings with 4 strikeouts and gave up 2 runs. Cade Swenson came in in the 7th to shut down a possible rally and earned the win.

It was Joneil Yanga who shined again at the plate for the Wildcats. Yanga went 3 for 4 and came up with the game winning RBI. Jordan Daniels and Wyatt Bush also drove in a run each.

Oscar Rodrigues pitched 7 innings giving up 6 hits and 2 runs. He had 4 strikeouts for Perris. Eduardo Menchaca came in to lose it for the Panthers in the eighth.

Chris Gallegos and Nathaniel McDaniel had a RBI each for Perris.

Issac Rocha had 3 hits for the Panthers.
