HS Baseball: Southwestern League Weekly Round-Up

Vista Murrieta Climbs to 4-0, Chaparral, Great Oak & Murrieta Mesa in Striking Distance

Vista Murrieta has won 4 straight in Southwestern league competition to take command of first place.

Chaparral is 3-1, Great Oak and Murrieta Mesa are 2-2 and in striking distance as league play continues.

Vista Murrieta beat Great Oak 3-1 on Wednesday. Nick Sims pitched 6.1 innings giving up a run on 4 hits. The Bronco senior struck 7 batters. Senior Cameron Mabee got the loss.

The Broncos beat Murrieta Valley 8-3 Friday. Seniors Anthony Tulimero, Caiden Matheny and junior Cayden Castellanos each drove in 2 runs. Castellanos also earned the victory, scattering 7 hits over 5 innings and giving up 3 runs.

Murrieta Mesa was red hot last week. The Rams stunned Temecula Valley, scoring 4 runs in the last inning to beat the Golden Bears 4-2 on Friday. Junior Andrew Morris drove in 2, Cameron Skinner and Anthony Salcedo each had an RBI in the seventh. Senior Jacob Wilson earned the win.



The Rams followed up on Saturday by edging Murrieta Valley 5-Skinner had 2 RBIs while Salcedo and Bryce Burchard drove in a run apiece. Mesa used 7 pitchers in the game and junior Alex Ortega got the win.

Great Oak defeated Chaparral 6-3 Wednesday. Junior Ethan Wayer drove in 2 runs as Cameron Mabee, Luke Jepsen and Jacob Fisher had an RBI each. Senior Michael Shanahan was the winner for the Wolfpack and Andrew Mosiello the loser for the Pumas.
