HS Baseball: Temecula Valley Shuts Out Murrieta Valley 4-0 and into First Place in the Southwestern League

Ethan Clough Tosses a One Hit Shutout in the Bears First Home League Game

Temecula Valley rolled into first place in the Southwestern league Friday afternoon in style. Senior Ethan Clough was masterful on the mound for the Golden Bears, throwing a complete game one hit shut out. The Golden Bears are now 10-1 and 3-0 in league play.

It was Clough’s second victory over Southwestern league opponents. He struck out 12 over seven innings and walked 3. Clough helped himself at the plate too, as he drove in a run with a single.

Temecula scored a run in the first inning and 2 more in the second. They scored an insurance run for Clough in the sixth that the senior did not need as they beat the Nighthawks 4-0.

Senior Andrew Torres drove in a run with a single. Junior Deven Hawks scored a run and had an RBI for the Golden Bears. Junior Cole Urman had two hits, including a double for Temecula. Junior Gant Rayfield stole a base.

Freshman Thatcher Seal threw out the ceremonial first pitch of the game wearing his older brother’s jersey. His brother Gage passed away at the end of his Freshman year and the Class of 2018 purchased his #3 jersey. They hang it in the dugout during every game throughout the year in memory of him.

Temecula Valley is scheduled to take on second place Vista Murreta next Tuesday. The Nighthawks play Glendora today.
