HS Baseball: Temecula Valley Shuts out Murrieta Mesa 6-0

Ethan Clough Throws a 2 Hitter as the Golden Bears are a Perfect 7-0 in the Southwesten League

Temecula Valley rolled to it’s seventh consecutive Southwestern league victory. Murrieta Mesa fell for the second time this week as they senior Ethan Clough threw 2 hit shutout at the Rams. The Golden Bears are now a perfect 7-0 in league play and are 18-2 overall.

The Golden Bears scored the only runs they needed in the fifth inning. Temecula would score 4 more in the seventh to put the game away for good.

Clough, a Long Beach State Commit threw 6 scoreless innings, giving up 2 hits. The senior struck out 11 Rams on the way to his fourth victory of the season. Clough also tripled, drove in a run and scored. Senior Carson Frazier came in to pitch the final inning to preserve the shutout.

Senior Gabe Alvarez drove in 2 runs for the Golden Bears. Fellow seniors Chris Burke and Andrew Torres each collected 2 hits and had an RBI apiece. Torres also scored twice.

Jacob Wilson took the loss for Murrieta Mesa. The junior pitched 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. Senior Jorge Cervantes gave up the other 4 runs in the seventh.

In other Southwestern league action, Murrieta Valley beat Vista Murrieta 8-2. Meanwhile, it took Great Oak extra innings to edge Chaparral 9-8 in eight.

The Golden Bears face Great Oak on Tuesday. The Rams host Vista Murrieta.
