HS Baseball: Vista Murrieta Blows Past Chaparral 11-4

Red Hot Jake Moberg Hits Two Home Runs in Wednesdays Victory

Jake Moberg was a one man wrecking crew for Vista Murrieta Wednesday afternoon as the junior unloaded against Chaparral. Moberg went 3 for five with a double and two home runs, leading the Broncos to a 11-4 victory over the Pumas.

The Broncos jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. They would score a run again in the second, four in the fourth and another in the fifth. The Pumas scored all 4 of their wuns in the seventh.

Steve Riddle knocked in 3 runs for the Broncos. Mason Campbell, Nick Mosiello and Moberg each had 2 RBIs. Joey Hodapp also had 2 hits and scored twice for Vista Murrieta.

The Broncos improved their overall record to 15-7. Vista Murrieta is now 8-1and in first place in the Southwestern League. The Pumas fall to 11-10 and are 5-5 in league play.





Brandon Ross won his 6th victory of the season. The senior threw 5 innings and struck out 7 and held the Pumas scoreless. Junior Luis Gonzalez worked he final inning and gave up the 4 runs,

The two teams will play again Friday.

In other Southwestern league action  ,the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks lost to the Temecula Valley Golden Bears on Wednesday afternoon, 9–6.
