HS Baseball: Vista Murrieta Edged 5-4 by Corona

The Broncos CIF SS Championship Playoff Run Comes to a End

Vista Murrieta’s 2017 Season was snuffed out in Corona Tuesday afternoon. Trailing by one, the Panthers scored twice in the sixth inning to cone form behind and defeat the Broncos 5-4. The Southwestern League Champions season has come to an end.

The Broncos jumped out to an early 4-1 lead, scoring 2 in the opening inning and two more in the the second. The Bronco bats went quiet after that and the Panthers would come back with 4 runs in the fifth and sixth to win the game

Joey Hodapp, Nick Moisello, Steve Riddle and Jake Moberg scored the 4 runs for the Broncos. Mitchell Moralez drove in two runs and Marc Gonzales and Hodapp one apiece.

Jake Moberg pitched one inning and ended up with the loss. He gave up the game winning 2 run home run to Jayden Kiernan in the fifth. Brandon Moss started the game and lasted 3 innings. Sophomore Andrew Moisello also pitched for the Broncos.

Corona advances to play in the CIF SS Quarterfinal game against Riverside North.
