HS Basketball: Brad Smith Named Chaparral High School’s New Head Coach


 

Smith Brings 17 Years of Coaching Experience and a 148-91 Record as a Head Coach to the Puma Program

Chaparral Athletic Director Dave Reisinger announced that Brad Smith has been named as the Pumas New Head Basketball Coach. Coach Smith will be beginning his 17th season coaching and his second stint as a head coach as he takes over the Puma Program.

It’s an honor to coach at a great school with amazing school spirit” said Smith. “Building a culture of hard work, sacrifice and success will be the top priority this year”.

Smith is proven winner who has been brought to Chaparral High School to invigorate the Pumas Basketball program. He was the Head Coach at Tahquitz High school from 2007-2018.

The guided the Titans to 4 consecutive Mountain Pass league titles in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. His teams averaged 20.6 wins per year for the five years that he led the Tahquitz program. His record as a head coach was 148-91.

Smith was a scholarship basketball athleteand played college basketball at Long Beach State. He and graduated in 2001. His coaching career is long. This will be his 17th year coaching, 13th as a head coach.

Smith will continue to teach Physical Education at Tahquitz High School. He has been there since the school opened 11 years ago.
