HS Basketball: Elsinore Slips Past Murrieta Valley in a 60-59 Thriller


Junior Elijah Lampkin Scores 21 Points to Lead the Tigers Past the Nighthawks

Elsinore erased a eight point first half deficit with a huge 24 point performance in the third period. The momentum shifed back to the Nighthawks in the final period but it was too little too late for Murrieta Valley. Elsinore slipped past Murrieta 60-59.

Junior Elijah Lampkin scored 21 points to lead the Tigers. Jalyn Stephenson added 14 more while Donald Fabela scored 10 points and Demetrius Kee had eight. All 3 are seniors.

The Nighthawks had four seniors score in double figures. Brian Collins led the Nighthawks with 15 points. Alex Cartwright and 13 Andrew Shackelford both scored 13 and Jared Armbruster put in 12 points into the hoop.

Elsinore is now 8-9 this season. They will begin Sunbelt league play Friday against Perris. Murrieta Valley falls to 4-11 with the loss.

The Nighthawks travel to Temescal Canyon for a non-league game on Saturday, January 6. Game time is 6:30p.
