HS Basketball: Great Oak Beats Temecula Vallley 83-73 as the Southwestern League Heats Up

Christian Ross Scores 21 Points to Lead the Wolfpack Past the Golden Bears

Temecula Valley has only lost 2 games in Southwestern league action this year. The Golden Bears are 5-2 and locked in a battle for the league Title with Murrieta Mesa and Great Oak.

Fortunately, they wont have to play the Wolfpack any more this year. Great Oak is the only team to beat Temecula Valley…and they have done it twice. The first time these 2 teams met, Great Oak won 81-73. It was Deja vu last night as as the Wolfpack cruised to a 83-73 victory.

Christian Ross scored 21 points to the lead the Pack past the Golden Bears. Tej Johnson added another 18 points and Cj Stevenson was also in double figures, scorning 16. Darian Dominguez had 8 points, Zach Hickey 6, Jacob Rodriguez 5 and Dylan Araiza 4 points.

“We got off to a great start offensively which set the tone for us for the rest of the game” said Great Oak Coach Robert Hickey. “We’ve been playing much better as of late and we hope it continues through the remainder of the season”.

Great Oak jumped out to a 25-11 lead in the first period and went up 45-27 at the half. The Wolfpack cruised to it’s 5th league victory to pull into a tie for second place, one game back of Murrieta Mesa.

Nate Jacobson scored 19 points to lead the Golden Bears. Krytian Walton added 16 and Josh O’Campo had 14 points. Trevor McNabb scored 10, Garrett Schaeffer 8 and Dante Navarro 6 points.

In other Southwestern league action, Murrieta Mesa beat Vista Murrieta 55-49 and Murrieta Valley slipped past Chaparral 55-51.

The Wolfpack will face off against the Rams on Friday night with the league Title on the line. Temecula Valley will play Murrieta Valley and Vista Murrieta will tackle Chaparral. .
