The Great Oak girls basketball team is on a mission this season. First place in the tough Southwestern league and on to the CIF Southern Section Playoffs.

The Wolfpack finished in first place last year but shared the Title with Vista Murrieta. Great Oak wants to win it outright this year. The Broncos have won the Title for the past 5 years.

If we play hard, play together, and play smart. Hopefully this will lead us to great things” said Great Oak Coach Shannon Maurice. “We still will play hard every game… maybe the difference this year is having a different player leading us in scoring every night. In the past, it has usually been one of two leading scorers”.

Ashley Waltz, Victoria Farris, Kevwe Anigobu and Brooke Padgett are the heart and soul of the Wolfpack. This core group of girls are whom Great Oak needs to excel and have a big year for the Wolfpack to be successful. This team keeps getting better and if they work together, skies the limit.

Victoria Farris

Ashley will have a big responsibility this season. She will be our main point guard” said Shannon.”She has been on Varsity since her freshman year and is a great shooter, a very smart player and hard worker”.

Kevwe Anigobu

Brooke has always been an outstanding defender blocking shot and rebounding. Just needs and needed a couch to groom her on offense” added Shannon.

Victoria is a very athletic player. She can score a lot of points, but also play some great defense. We expect a double-double from Kevwe every game. She is very athletic for a post and is a solid all around player and has great footwork”.

This team keeps getting better and if they work together, the skies the limit. The goal this year is clear….Outright Champions of the Southwestern League.
