HS Basketball: Murrieta Mesa Falls to Aliso Niguel 71-53 in the Semifinals of the King of the Hill Tournament


Lamar Wight’s 18 Points Leads the Rams as the Rams 8 Game Winning Streak Ends

Murrieta Mesa’s eight game winning streak came to a end Friday night as the Rams re overwhelmed by Aliso Niguel 71-53 in the Semifinals of the King of the Hill Tournament.

Aliso Niguel jumped out to a 19-16 lead and never looked back. The Wolverines out shot Murrieta Mesa 21-16 to take a 40-32 lead at the half. Both teams played tighter defense in the second half but Aliso Niguel outscored the Rams 31-23 to win.

Lamar Wight led the Rams with 18 points. Gio Sanders and Anthonty Salas each had 10 points apiece for Mesa. The Rams usual “go-to” guy Shamar Wright had an off night. The junior only had 6 points but did manage to grab 9 rebounds. Devin Fotune also scored 4 points.

Murrieta Mesa will put the loss behind them and focus on their next game in the King of the Hill Tournament. The Rams will play St. Mary’s tonight.
