HS Basketball: Murrieta Mesa Places Third in the Inland Empire Classic

Lamar Wright Scores 38 points as the Rams Overwhelm Summit 110-71 in the Consolation Game

The Murrieta Mesa Boys Basketball team improved its record to 7-3 and took third place in the Inland Empire Classic Saturday afternoon. The Rams overwhelmed Summit 110-71 in the Consolation game.

Murrieta Mesa jumped out to a 28-18 lead in the first period and made it 55-36 by the half. The Rams outscored the Skyhawks 55-35 in the second half and cruised to the 110-71 victory.

Lamar Wright led the Rams in scoring. The 6’6” senor set a school record, scoring 38 points. His brother Shamar, a junior, added 27 points to the mix for the Rams. They were both selected to the All Tournament team.

Jonah Zandi also had 12 points in the game. Devin Fortune and Anthony Salas both had 8 points, while Elisha Williams and JM Johnson each scored 5. Gio Sanders had 4 points while Cameron Rentie added 3.

Murrieta Mesa has a non-conference game at Elsinore on Tuesday, December 19.

The Tigers are 5-5 and coming off a 65-45 victory over Army-Navy. Game time is 6:30 pm.
