Murrieta Valley’s offense just couldn’t get ignited Wednesday afternoon in the opening round of the Battlezone Boys Basketball tournament that began on Tuesday at Centennial High School in Corona. Eight teams are participating in the 5-day tournament that concludes in Saturday’s Championship Finals.
Rancho Verde jumped out to a 19 to 6 lead in the first period and never looked back. Sophomore guard Jaxan Turner led the Musangs with 26 points. Fellow sophomore Troy San Antonio added 13, senior s Damian Reedy had 6 and Jayon Martinez 7. Senior Ajani Kennedy scored 4 points and was a the Musangs’ top rebounder.
The other teams playing in the tournament are Rancho Christian, Redlands East Valley, Cathedral, Long Beach Poly, Chino Hills, Orange Lutheran ans Foothills Christian.
Tournament Play resumes tomorrow.
