HS Basketball: Murrieta Valley Falls to Rancho Verde 58-34 in the Opening Round of the BATTLEZONE Tournament at Centennial


15284137_1046972952080241_3698327191690021305_nMurrieta Valley’s offense just couldn’t get ignited Wednesday afternoon in the opening round of the Battlezone Boys Basketball tournament that began on Tuesday at Centennial High School in Corona. Eight teams are participating in the 5-day tournament that concludes in Saturday’s Championship Finals.




Rancho Verde jumped out to a 19 to 6 lead in the first period and never looked back. Sophomore guard Jaxan Turner led the Musangs with 26 points. Fellow sophomore Troy San Antonio added 13, senior s Damian Reedy had 6 and Jayon Martinez 7. Senior Ajani Kennedy scored 4 points and was a the Musangs’ top rebounder.

Murrieta Valley was led by sophomore Ryan Lynton who scored 10 points. Junior Jared Armbuster added 7-points, junior JC White 5 and sophomore Anthony Montion scored 4 points against Rancho Verde.15337669_1046972472080289_4102574199323060364_n

The other teams playing in the tournament are Rancho Christian, Redlands East Valley, Cathedral, Long Beach Poly, Chino Hills, Orange Lutheran ans Foothills Christian.

Tournament Play resumes tomorrow.
