Linfield Edges Temecula Prep, Eisenhower Slips Past San Bernardino, Temecula Valley Falls to Rancho Verde, Poly beats Roosevelt & Centennial Victorious over Mission Bay
Rancho Christian, fresh off the plane from a win Friday night against a nationally ranked Memphis East team, fell to Santa Margarita 72-60 in the Third Annul Eagles Showcase Saturday. After beating the Mustangs in the Geico ESPN2 High School Showcase 66-56 on national TV, Rancho lost to Santa Margarita 72-60 at home.
The team traveled back to Temecula to play in the Third Annual Eagles Show Case at 6:00 pm. Santa Margarita, ranked 17th in the State and 65th in the Nation was ready and waiting. Both Eagles teams scored 11 points in the first period. Santa Margarita went ahead by 4 in the second and the half ended 32-28 .
Rancho Christian outscored Santa Margarita 19-14 in the third period to take a 47-46 lead as the final frame started. Santa Margarita’s Max Agbonkpolo exploded for 12 points and Jake Kyman scored another 9 in the period as the Eagles pulled away with the victory.
Isaiah Mobley led Rancho Christian with 17 points. His brother Evan, scored 16 more. Luke Turner added 8 points and the trio of
Jayden Bias, Jordan Montgomery and Dominick Harris scored 5 apiece.
Kyman led Santa Margarita with 29 points followed by Agbonkpolo with 26. Six foot eleven senior Shengzhe Li added 6 points. Selah Robbins scored 5, Aldo Ruiz Ortiz 3, Kendal Mchugh 2 and Jake Blazona 1 point.
In game one of the Show Case, Linfield Christian beat Temecula Prep with a shot at the buzzer, 58-56. Trevor Wier scored 24 points for the Patriots while Jalani Jefferson scored 15 and Noah Speer 14 points for Linfield.
In game two, it was another game that went down to the wire as Eisenhower slipped past San Bernardino 58-56. Game three saw Rancho Verde crush Temecula Valley 78-46.
It was another close one in game four as Riverside Poly squeaked out a 1 point victory over Roosevelt 60-59. In the final game of the Show Case, Centennial beat San Diego’s Mission Bay Buccaneers 74-68.
