HS Basketball: Temecula Valley Scores 107 Points to Beat Murieta Valley, Chaparral Upsets Vista Murrieta & Great Oak Grinds out a Win over Murrieta Mesa

Temecula Valley Leads the League at 2-0 & Chaparral Shows that they are a Serious Contender this Season

It was an exciting evening of boys basketball in the Southwestern league last night. Temecula Valley won it’s fourth game in a row as the Golden Bears turned up the heat and scored a season high 107 points to defeat Murrieta Valley 107-81.

The Bears have scored in the 90’s three times this season. Temecula will play against Rancho Verde in the Rancho Christian Eagles Showcase today at 3pm.

Great Oak won its first league game by beating Murrieta Mesa 66-48. The Rams had been ranked 11th in the latest CIF Southern Section Division 2A polls 5 spots above the Wolfpack . The Rams finished second in the Southwestern league last season behind Temecula Valley and Great Oak who tied for the title.

In the third league game of the night, Chaparral upset Vista Murrieta 68-50.

The Pumas showed the league that they are a new team last night. Chaparral, under second year head coach Askia Geigle, came out and were running and gunning against a bewildered Broncos team.

League play resumes on Monday as Temecula Valley takes on Vista Murrieta, Great Oak faces Chaparral and Murrieta Valley plays rival Murrieta Mesa.
