HS Basketball: Vista Murrieta Crushes Murrieta Valley 69-24…Wins the Southwestern League Championship

Natalia Willis & Jessica Stoll Score 15 Points Each to Lead the Broncos

Vista Murrieta clinched outright possession the Southwestern League Championship with a decisive 69-24 win over rival Murrieta Valley. It was the 7th consecutive league title for the Broncos.

“I am extremely happy for our players and proud of them for finding a way to secure a Southwestern League Championship again this season. Although we faced our share of adversity, the individuals on this team made the decision to pull together and do whatever it took to help our team have a successful season” sad Bronco Head Coach Kurt Ruth.

Vista Murrieta took the lead early and never looked back as they rolled over Murrieta Valley on the Broncos Senior Night. The Broncos lead after the first quarter 20-10.

Vista Murrieta’s tough, tenacious defense kept pressure on Murrieta Valley all night long. The Broncos stole the ball 22 times while out-rebounding the Nighthawks 27-11.

The Broncos would outscoring the Nighthawks 49 -14 for the rest of the game.


The Broncos scoring was led by senior Natalia Willis and junior Jessica Stoll. The two guards  scored 15 points each. Junior Sarah Rich had 10 points, seniors Jazmin Acedo 10 and Noe Bernardo 8 points.

Junior Shyann Morreo added 6 points, Emily Bourque 3 more and Ruthie Vargas had 2 points.

The Southwestern league Champions get ready for CIF Division 1 playoffs next Thursday. Brackets will be released on Sunday afternoon.
