The Wolfpack’s Big First Half Performance Enough to Win it for Great Oak
The Wolfpack jumped all over the Pumas in the first period of last night’s Southwestern league opener for both teams. Great Out outscored Chaparral 22-11in the opening frame and continued in the second to leap out to a 37-19 lead at the half.
The Pumas came out of the locker rooms with a revitalized attitude in the second half, but it was just too little too late. The Wolfpack outscored the Pumas 20-15 in the third period and then let watched as Chaparral put together a 20 point final period effort to close the gap to 61-54.
Great Oak was led by Cj Stevenson’s 15 points. Zeryck Russon added 14 more while Jason Bush scored 13. Trevor McNabb ended with up with 7 points, Christian Ross 5, Jacob Rodriguez 4 and Zach Hickey three.
Antonio Camacho was the high scorer of the game with 24 points for Chaparral. Robbie Roy and Trey Johnson each scored 8 points for the Pumas Jonathan Galan added 6 more. Joseph Schultz scored 4 while Andrew Milot and Myki Moreland scored 2 apiece.
The Pumas next game is against Vista Murrieta at home Friday night. The Wolfpack will also be nhome against Murrieta Mesa.
