HS Boys Basketball: Great Oak Upsets Mighty Temecula Valley 81-73

The Wolfpack Stuns the Defending Southwestern League Champs

Great Oak knocked off the Defending Southwestern league Champions Tuesday night 81-73. Temecula Valley finds itself with a record of 2-1 and trailing Murrieta Mesa by a game in the league standings. Yes…Murrieta Mesa.

Just another crazy Southwestern League game” said Great Oak Coach Robert Hinkley. “We hit the big shots when we needed them to so I’m happy for my guys. This league is so competitive night in and night out its crazy”.

Great Oak had 4 players score in double figures. The Wolfpack was led by Cj Stevenson who scored 15 points while Christian Ross and Darien Dominguez both scored 14.

Jacob Rodriguez added 10 points, Tej Johnson 9, Zach Hickey 6 and Jalen Punsalan and Dylan Araiza each put 5 in the bucket.

Temecula Valley was led by Krystian Walton who scored a game high 21 points. Josh O’Campo added 19 while Trevor Mcnabb had 14 points. Nate Jacobsen would score 6  and Raphael Allen 5 and Ethan Winter 4 points.

In other Southwestern league action seniors Brian Collins scored 29 points and Aaron Shackelford 26 as Murrieta Valley knocked off Chaparral 78-52. Murrieta Mesa slipped past Vista Murrieta 61-54
