HS Boys Basketball: Murreta Mesa Stomps Hemet 90-34 in the King of the Hill Tournament

The Red Hot Rams were Led by Shamar Wright’s 26 Points and 11 Rebound Effort

Murrieta Mesa coasted to a 90-34 victory over Hemet in game 2 of the King of the Hill Tournament. The Rams won their opening game 84-58 over Grand Terrace on on Tuesday. They face Temescal Canyon today at 3:00.

It was Shamar Wright that led Murrieta Mesa’s offense against the Bulldogs. The senior scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the Rams lopsided victory. Twin brother Lamar pitched in another 18 points for Mesa.

Junior Devin Fortune also scored 9 points for the Rams. Jonah Zandi added 8 more and Anthony Salas added 7 points as the Rams looked invincible Wednesday night.

The Rams also had a stellar defensive effort. Murrieta Mesa held the Bulldogs to just one point in the opening period and built up a 32-1 lead. The Rams made it 53-13 at the half and never looked back.

In other tournament action, the Southwestern league’s Vista Murrieta thrashed West Valley by a score of 72 – 33. The Broncos face Woodcrest Christian at 10;30 this morning.
