The Rams Improve to 13-4 & Getting Ready for Southwestern League Play
Murrieta Mesa jumped out to an early 10 point lead in the first period of last night’s King of the Hill Tournament game against St. Mary’s. The lead seemed insurmountable but the Knights came back to tie it in the fourth period.
Rams held off the Knights charge and outscored St. Mary’s 12-7 in the overtime period to win 73-68. Murrieta Mesa d third place in the tournament with the victory.
Murrieta Mesa was led by junior Shamar Wright who was back to his usual self and scored 36 points. Twin brother Lamar put in 10 points for the Rams as did Jonah Zandi. Devin Fortune would score 6 points while Ryan Lynton and Anthony Salas each added 4 points to the total.
St. Mary’s came to play in the tournament from Phoenix, Arizona. They were led by the duo of Deven Dahlke and Kieren Brown 17 points. Reece Taylor also scored 14 points for the Knights.
Murrieta Mesa varsity has an away game at Downey on Saturday, January 6 before Southwestern league action begins.
