The Eagles are 26-2 & Ranked First in the CIF SS Division 2A Division
The match ups of the Elite Open Division of the Boys Basketball Championship Playoffs were released this weekend…and they are as good as any first-round playoff games in CIF Southern Section history. Tiny Rancho Christian has been selected to compete with established Southern California High School Basketball powerhouses beginning this week.
The Eagles finished the regular season with a record of 26-2 and were ranked first in the CIF Southern Section’s Division 2A. They are the fourth seed in the Open Tournament behind number 1 Bishop Montgomery (25-0), Etiwanda (27-1) and Mater Dei (20-6).
Rancho Christian is led by the Mobley brothers. Junior Isaiah is the Eagle scoring leader, averaging 19.5 points a game. Younger brother Evan, a sophomore , averages 14.3 points. The two brothers have dominated the boards for the Eagles, grabbing 551 rebounds between the two of them.
Sophomore Jordan Montgomery also averages 8.9 points a game, while seniors Isaiah Knox and KJ Redfield are averaging 9,1 and and 8.3 points. Freshman Luke Turner is also a threat to score, with a 7.8 average.
The Eagles will have their hands full in the opening game. They will face number 5 Chatsworth Sierra Canyon (21-3). The Trailblazers are 21-3 and were the Gold Coast league Champions. Sierra Canyon has five highly touted transfer students in its starting lineup.
The other 3 games will find number 1 Bishop Montgomery (25-0) playing host on Friday to St. John Bosco (21-6). Number 2 Etiwanda (27-1) will play Number 7 Santa Margarita (20-6) and third-seeded Mater Dei (20-6) faces Encino Crespi (25-2).
