HS Boys Basketball: Rancho Verde Blows Past Murrieta Valley 56-38 with a Big Fourth Period

The Mustangs Share First Place in the Nighthawk Classic Tournament with Beaumont

Rancho Verde’s Damien Reedy scored 10 of Rancho Verde’s 20 fourth period points as the senior led the Mustangs past the Nighthawks to a 56-38 victory Saturday. Murrieta Valley had held Rancho Verde’s explosive offesne at bay and trailed by just a bucket 36 -34 as the period began. The victory over the Nighthawks earned the Mustangs a Co-Championship with Beaumont in the 24th Annual Nighthawk Classic Saturday. Reedy finished with 23 points against Murrieta Valley. Sophomore Tory San Antonio had 13 points and eight rebounds for Rancho Verde.

Murrieta Valley junior Arturo Rivas led the Nighthawk attack with 11 points. Sophomores Anthony Montion and senior Mateo Lopez scored six points apiece while senior Austin Iannuzi added 4 points for MVHS. Kyle Schroeder, Alex Cartwright and Brian Collins each scored 3 points .

The Nighthawks head to Lakeside to battle the Lancers on Thursday. Rancho Verde is playing Leuzinger at the Damien Holiday Classic today.
