HS Boys Basketball: Temecula Valley Beats Murrieta Mesa 76-69 as the Southwestern League Heats Up

Murrieta Valley Falls to Vista Murrieta and Great Oak Defeats Chaparral Tuesday Night

The Southwestern league heated up Tuesday evening as Temecula Valley defeated Murrieta Mesa 76-69 to pull even in the standings. Both teams find themselves with a record of 4-1 and deadlocked for first place with the season half over.

Temecula Valley jumped out to a 20-17 lead in the first period and stayed ahead or the rest of the game. It was 35-28 at the half and the defending Champs stayed focused on getting the job done. The Golden Bears and Rams played to a 41-41 draw in the last two periods as Temecula valley claimed the 7 point victory.

The Golden Bears were led by Kriyztian Walton who scored 27 points against the Rams. Josh O’Campo and, Nate Jacobsen both scored 16 while Trevor McNabb added 9, Dante Navarro 6 and John Miller 3 points.

Murrieta Mesa’s Gio Sanders was the Rams high point man with 18. Lamar Wright added 17, Devin Fortune 15, and Shamar Wright had 12 points.

In other Southwestern league action, Murrieta Valley fell to Vista Murrieta in a tough battle, 55-49 while Great Oak stomped Chaparral Tuesday night 68-41.
