HS Boys Soccer: The 2018 All-League Boys Soccer Southwestern League Teams Selected

Victor Becerra of Vista Murrieta & Murrieta Mesa’s Taylor Perales Named League Most Valuable Offensive & Defensive Players

The 2018 All-League Boys Soccer Southwestern League Teams have been selected this week. Junior Victor Becerra of Vista Murrieta has been named the league’s Most Valuable Offensive Player and senior Murrieta Mesa’s Taylor Perales the Defensive MVP.

“Victor Becerra emerged this season as the dominant goal scorer we knew he would be when he attended our freshmen camp two summers ago, setting the single season goal scoring record at 22” said Broncos Coach John Hanson. “He is a special player that is capable of scoring with both feet, in fact he spent much of league play only being able to shot left-footed due to a thigh injury. Had he not gotten injured during the Poly Tournament and missed three league games his overall goal total would have been much higher”.

“As it was, his absence allowed league teams to concentrate on other players and took away a bit of our offense, but his return was definitely felt. It has been fun watching him mature this season and put the team on shoulders and it truly says something about him that he was recognized by other league coaches as the Southwestern League Offensive MVP. As a bonus, we get him back next year.”

“When Taylor he is on the field there is definitely a difference of skill compared to other players. He is most likely the most talented player in the league” said Murrieta Mesa Coach Robert Bokma. Ever since Taylor has joined our program he has brought stability and a change of mentality to the team. The Team won it’s first league game in Taylor’s first year with the program and we have continued to have better seasons every year. I have never had a player like Taylor. He is mature above and beyond what his age is and he shows it all the time. He is a leader and a very respected player”.

“ Taylor was our leader and the team learned from him and tried their hardest because of Taylor’s example. Taylor has achieved an amazing positive impact on his team. I am excited to see what happens as Taylor transitions to play College ball at USD.”

Southwestern league Champion Great Oak sends four players to the First Team. Seniors Chandler Dittloff, Sadi Arzo and juniors Jacob Johnston and William Eskridge were selected.
