HS Boys Volleyball: Murrieta Valley Captures Second Place in the CIF SS Division 4 Championships

The Nighthawks Advance to the Southern California State Championships on Tuesday

The Murrieta Valley Boys volleyball team placed second in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs on Saturday. The Nighthawks put up a gallant fight, but lost 25-23, 25-22 and 25-18 in the Championship game.

The CIF Finals at Cerritos College was a great experience for the guys” said Coach Jason Cantu. “To be in the Finals in any Division is a great accomplishment and the boys have a lot to be proud of”.

Trevor Richardson led the Nighthawk attack with 10 kills. Troy Hess had 8 and Michael Hewlett added 7 kills for Murrieta Valley.

Andrew Ferrera came up with12 digs and Levi Miller led the team with 32 assists.

Our Season is not over and we have to refocus ourselves quickly” said Coach Cantu. “Making it to the CIF Southern Section Finals in Division 4 gave us an automatic berth into the the CIF Southern California Regional Division 3 State Playoffs. We are the Number one seed in the Southern California Regionals.

The Nighthawks begin their quest for the Southern California Championship on Tuesday, May 22nd at 7:00 pm. The Nighthawks are home to play New West Charter.
