HS Cross Country: Great Oak Boys Win the National Title, Girls Team Places Third

The Wolfpack’s 2015 Cross County Season Ends on a Very High Note

12348259_10206680609765736_811356776_nThe Great Oak Cross Country teams traveled to Portland, Oregon this weekend to compete in the 2015 National Championship at the Nike Cross Nationals. The Wolfpack runs as the Temecula Cross Country Club in non-CIF events. Great Oak Swept the CIF State Meet last week.

It was rainy and about 46 degrees when the meet began but not as windy as last year. Times were better overall than last year’s race at Glendoveer Golf Course where the race is held.

12336416_10153734509022487_875703047_nThe Boys team captured their first National Championship behind the strong running of Spencer Dodds who’s 15 minutes, 26.1 seconds earned him 15th overall. Senior Cole Spencer (15:29.0) placed 18th, Isaac Cortes (15:37.0) was 27th, Tony Robinson (16:04.8) 83rd and Nelson Quintana (16:09.1) finished 86th. Brandon Shields (16:19.7) and Solomon Fountain (16:30.0) were the other Great Oak starters.

Led by Destiny Collins (17:52)  who finished 31st, Nicole Rice (18:25)   72nd, Evelyn Mandel (18:27) 75th, Sandra Pflughoft (18:35) for 84th,  Skyler Bollinger (18:48)  97th, Kiyena Beatty (18:56) for 107th and Emily Clause 19:38 finished 165th.
