HS Cross Country: The Wolfpack Runs Away with Wednesday’s Southwestern League Meet


Great Oak Boys & Girls Teams Dominant in the First League Cross Country Competition

Great Oak’s Boys and Girls Cross Country teams dominated in Wednesday’s first Southwestern league meet of the 2015 season. The Boys team had a perfect score of 15, taking the top 5 spots. Solomon Fountain finished first, Gavin Korby second, Justin Eipp third, Carlos Carvajal fourth, and Jacob Korgan placed fifth.

Chaparral finished second in the meet with 60 points, Vista Murrieta third, Murrieta Mesa fourth, Murrieta Valley fifth and Temecula Valley was sixth.

Rounding out the Top 10 finishers in yesterday’s Boys race were Eric Nunez (Vista Murrieta), Marod Jackson (Chaparral), Edgard  Villa (Vista Murrieta),  Payton  Olsen (Murrieta Mesa) and Wesley Bowen (Great Oak).

The Wolfpack Girls scored 30 points to win their match. Vista Murrieta placed second with 56 points, Chaparral third, Murrieta valley fourth, Temecula valley fifth and Murrieta Mesa was sixth.

The top ten in the girls race were: Michelle McIntosh (Great Oak) in first place followed by Maya Ambroziak (Great Oak), Michaela Reynolds (Vista Murrieta), Alison Ciling (Murrieta Mesa), Zoe Jarvis (Chaparral), Kendalyn Green (Chaparral), Alyssa Ungrady (Great Oak), Sarah Workman (Great Oak), Paige Haynes (Vista Murrieta) and Amelia Strahan (Vista Murrieta).

The Great Oak victory is even more amazing when you consider that Coach Doug Soles was resting his top seven girls and boys runners for the Clovis Invitational on Oct. 10th, at Woodward Park, Fresno.
