HS Football: 22 Local High School Athletes Selected for 2019 All CIF Southern Section Honors


Linfield Christian Head Coach DeChon Burns was Named Coach of the Year in Division 12

Twenty-two athletes from 11 local High Schools have been selected for All CIF Honors. The announcement was made by Commissioner Rob Wigod on Monday.

In Division 12, Kaleb Maresh was named Offensive Player of the Year and Travion Brown was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year from Linfield Christian. Lions Head Coach DeChon Burns was named as the Division’s Coach of the Year.

Five other Linfield Christian football players were selected All CIF Southern Section. Seniors Kenric Jameison, Brad Whitworth, Cooper Whitworth, Anthony Santoro and junior Jason Locke made the team.

In Division 1, Murrieta Valley quarterback Hank Bachmeier was selected. Lineman Anthony Session and linebacker Samuela Mounga from Vista Murrieta also were honored.

Heritage Linebacker Ika Tuatala was selected to the Division 2 team, In Division 3, two local athletes made the team. They were quarterback Mason Carvahlo from Paloma Valley and Murrieta Mesa defensive lineman Kyon Barrs.

In Division 7, A CIF honors went to linebacker Collin Kerr from Elsinore high school.

Four players from Temecula Valley were named to the Division 8 All CIF team. They were senior receiver Cade Churchward, running back Easton Gibbs and junior lineman Jay Max Jacobsen and Anson Pulsipher.

The Temescal Canyon Titans also had three All CIF Southern Section players. Senior running back Brandon Clemons and lineman Joe Hernandez were joined by junior linebacker Quentin Evans on the team.

In Division 13, two athletes from Calvary Murrieta were selected. Both were kickers and both were juniors. They were place kicker Joel Wold and punter Brandon Baker. California Military Institute also had one player selected. He was senior running back Jordan Aubert.
