The CIF-Southern Section released the Playoff Groupings for the 2017 fall football yesterday. The new power rankings have some minor changes that effect the Southwestern,Sunbelt and other local teams.
In the Southwestern league, the biggest change is Murrieta Valley’s moves to Division 1. Vista Murrieta remains in Division 1 and Great Oak in Division 2. Murrieta Mesa stays in Division 4 but the other 2 Southwestern teams move down a notch. Chaparral moves from Division 4 to 5 and Temecula Valley slides down too Division 6.
There is no change in the Sunbelt. League Champion Heritage is in Division 2 while Paloma Valley remains in Division 5. Elsinore is in Division 6, Temescal Valley 8, Perris 9 and the improving Lakeside Lancers are in Division 11.
In the South Valley league the only change is that Division 12 Champion Rancho Christian has been moved up to Division 12. Calvary Murrieta is also in Division 12. Temecula Prep, Santa Rosa Acadeny, California Military Academy and Nuview Bridge remain in Division 13.
The Ambassador league’s Linfield Christian will stay in Division 7 even after a disappointing 4-6-1 season. Coach Dechon Burns remains confident and is focused that his Lions will bringhome the CIF Southern Section Division 7 Championship.
