Up stepped sophomore quarterback Orlando Orenales and junior running back Jamie Hernandez to provide the relief. The Pumas offense didn’t get started until the second quarter had 3 turnovers on downs when they were inside the Redlands 30 yard line.14370290_1453931677967492_568535018697051167_n

But there is hope. The young quarterback’s imitation as the starter is over, and he has a big, powerful offensive line to work behind. Hernandez gained 54 yards on 19 carries. The CIF Southern Section Pollsres have faith in the Pumas. Chaparral was ranked 12th in Division 4 this week.

Santiago is now 2-2 and also impressed the pollsters, coming in number 13 in Division 3. The Sharks are led by Nathanial Castillo. The sophomore quarterback has thrown for 443 yards and 3 TDs. He has also run for 98 yards.

The Pumas will play at home which may make it a lot easier for Orenales and Hernandez to adjust as the new leaders of the offense.
