HS Football: Five Local Teams Ranked in the Top 10 in their Divisions in this Week’s CIF Southern Section Polls

Linfield Christian is Number 1 in Division 12 as Heritage, Murrieta Mesa, Temecula Valley & Rancho Christian all Ranked 6th in their Divisions

The CIF Southern Section Divisional football poll for the week of August 20th have been released. Five local High Schools have been ranked in the top ten of their respective Divisions. One, Linfield Christian comes in ranked as the number 1 team in Division 12.

Linfield Christian is coning off an 54-0 opening day victory over Saddleback High School. The Lions amassed 40 points in the first half before slowing down. This week Linfield will battle Santa Clara form Oxnard. The Saints fell to Santa Clarita Christian last week.

Ranked sixth in Division 2 is perrenial powerhouse Heritage. The Patriots will open their season this Friday against Oak Hills from Hesperia. The Division 3 Bulldogs were 6-5 last year. Heritage changed leagues this year…they are now in the Ivy league.

Murrieta Mesa is ranked sixth in Division 3 to start the season. The Rams moved up from Division 4 after finishing 9-4 last year. They will open the season at home against Etiwanda Friday. The Eagles crushed Summit 34-0 last week.

In Division 8, Temecula Valley is also ranked sixth. Last yea the Golden Bears were 0-10 in Division 6 but a lot is expected with new Head Coach Bert Esposito taking over. Temecula starts its season at Elsinore this week.

Rancho Christian beat Valley Christian 39-3 in their season opener last week. The Eagles are ranked sixth in Division 10 and will face Corona from the Big VIII at home this Friday. The Panthers are 0-1 after suffering a 35-0 thrashing at the hands of Trabuco Hills.
