HS Football: Friday Night CIF Southern Section Championship Playoff Quarterfinal Match Ups

Six Local Teams Remain in the CIF Southern Section Championship Playoffs

Murrieta Valley squeezed past Santa Margarita 59-56 last week in Division 1 to advance to meet Corona Centennial tomorrow night. The Huskies are ranked as the 5th team in the nation and beat Sera 35-21 in the opening round.

Heritage faces Calabasas in the Division 2 Quarterfinals. The Patriots crushed La Mirada 55-21 and dominated the Matadors from the opening kick off. Calabasas beat Notre Dame 30-7.

Murrieta Mesa is home to host Glendora in the Division 4 Quarterfinals. Glendora beat Corona Santiago 38-23 last Friday. The Rams won their first ever CIF playoff game by knocking off Colony 51-28.

Two teams are represented in Division 5. Paloma Valley takes on Yucaipa at home this week. The Wildcats destroyed San Jacinto 49-8 while Yucaipa walked all over La Quinta 43-10.

Chaparral advances to meet second seeded Paramount Friday night. The Pumas looked really sharp in their 38-0 shutout victory over Valencia. The Pirates also shut out Wilson High 40-0 in the opening round.

Rancho Christian, the defending Division 13 California State Champion will face South El Monte in the Division 12 Quarterfinals. The Eagles edged Laguna Beach 24-17 last week while South El Monte ran over El Dorado 50-7.
