The Patriots Season Ends while the Vikings Advance to Face Oaks Christian in the Championship Game
Heritage’s season ended Friday night as the Patriots fell to Valencia 52-34 in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Semifinals. The Vikings jumped out to a 14-0-0 lead behind their no-huddle offense in the first quarter. Valencia scored another touchdowns to make it 21-0 before Heritage’s offense got started.
The Patriots exploded for 3 touchdowns in the quarter to keep it close. Sherod White would score two touchdown in succession, one a 13 yard run followed by a 2 run two minutes later. Rashoud Shelton then scored on a 50 yard pass from Devan Freedland with 4 seconds left in the quarter. Valencia scored 12 points in the quarter to make it 34-21at halftime.
The Vikings came roaring back as the second half began. Valencia outscored Heritage 21-13 in the quarter to go up 45-34. White scored his third touchdown of the evening, this time busting loose on a 70 yard run.
The Patriots also scored as James Phillips caught a 49 yard TD pass from Freedland. It would be the Patriots last touchdown of the night…and the year. Valencia’s defense shut down the Heritage attack for the rest of the game. The Viking’s won it 52-34.
Moises Haynes touched the ball 20 times and gained 114 yards for Valencia. Luring Paialii scored 3 touchdowns and Mykael Wright two more. Wright was also the Vikiing reception leader with 6 catches for 85 yards.
Heritage quarterback Freedland finished the game completing 15 passes for 257 yards. White carried the ball 18 times for 130 Yards. Phillips only gained 33 yards on the ground but had 3 catches for 95 yards. Shelton hauled in 5 passes for 98 yards and Rickie Johnson caught 3 balls.
Valencia will advance to face Oaks Christian on Saturday, December 2 at 7pm in the CIF Southern Section Division 2 Championship game.
