James Phillips & Sherod White Run for 3 Touchdowns each as the Patriots Run Havoc Over the Titans
Heritage cruised to an easy victory again Friday night as they dominated yet another Sunbelt league opponent. Since joining the Sunbelt League in 2010, the Patriots have been invincible. Heritage has won 39 consecutive games. It is the second longest winning streak in the Inland Empire.
The Patriots crushed poor Temescal Canyon 60-7 this week. Heritage’s running game just couldn’t be stopped. James Phillips and Sherod White had banner days and ran for 3 touchdowns apiece. The defense also shined for Heritage as the Patriots used its defense Friday night to set up several offensive opportunities.
Temescal Canyon scored its only touchdown of the night, a 6 yard pass completed to Jacob Tomazin. It was all Heritage after that. Phillips busted loose with a 80 yard scamper into the end zone for his third TD of the night, making it Heritage 27, Temescal Canyon 7.
This time it was White’s turn. The nimble running back blasted for a 51 yard run for a score that took the life out of the Titans. Quarterback Devan Freedland then tossed a 8 yard pass to Rashoud Shelton to make it 39-7. White then scored for a third time with a 5 yard run. It was 46-7 at halftime.
Heritage scored twice more in the second half. Kenny Teter had a 22 yard run in the third quarter. Parker Mcwhirter then scored on a 61 yard run for the Patriots.
The victory set up a showdown of the 2 undefeated teams in Sunbelt League. They will battle it out for the title next Friday in the annual Menifee Bowl. Paloma Valley is tied for first place with Heritage with identical 4-0 league marks. Can this be the Year that the Wildcats pull off an upset?
