The Patriots Make it 37 Sunbelt Games in a Row…the Second-longest Winning Streak in Inland Empire History.
They were dominant against Perris Friday night, jumping out to a 21 point lead in the first quarter, Heritage added another 28 points in the second quarter and led 49-0 at the half. The Patriots turned off the point scoring machinery after adding 13 more in the third period.
James Phillips started the ball rolling in the first quarter with a 63 yard touchdown run. Ika Tuatala’s 28 run into the end zone was his for first TD of the night. Quarterback Devan Freedland then completed a 32 yard pass to Rashoud Shelton for a TD.
Phillips opened the second quarter with a 21 yard TD, his second of the night. Special teams also got involved in the scoring. Kenny Teter took a Perris punt and returned it 75 yards for a score. Freedland then struck again in the air. His 32 yard pass to Rickie Johnson was good for another TD. Tuatala boke loose with a 45 yard run for his second touchdown of the night. It was Perris 0, Heritage 48 at the half.
Heritage scored twice in the third quarter. Kenny Teter scored TD number two on a 48 yard run. Tyler Mull capped off the scoring for the Patriots with a 2 yard run. Final score; Perris 0, Heritage 61.
The Patriots will be home next Friday. They will play the Titans from Temescal Canyon. It doesn’t get any easier for the poor Panthers. They are home to face the red hot Wildcats from Paloma Valley.
