HS Football: Murrieta Mesa Faces Cajon Friday Night in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 Semifinals


The Cowboys are Ranked 2nd in Division 4 and Possess an Explosive Offense
Murrieta Mesa will face one of their toughest opponents of the season as they head to the CIF Southern Section Division 4 Semifinals Friday night. The Rams will play their first game after Thanksgiving when they suit p against the Cowboys.

Cajon has a record of 11-1 this season Their only loss came at the hands of Southwestern league Champions Murrieta Valley. The Division 1 Nighthawks slipped past the Cowboys 49 – 46 in that non-league contest. Cajon went on to win the Citus Belt league Championship with a perfect 7-0 record.

The Cowboys are led by quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Junior has thrown for 3,953 yards and 50 touchdowns. He has also gained 647 yards on the ground and scored 7 TDs. His favorite receivers are Darren Jones who caught 69 passes for 1,568 yards and 23 TDs and Tre Noriega who has grabbed 58 passes for 925 yards and 8 scores, Omar Perkins, Dejuan Moon and Jerimaiah Martin can also catch the ball.

Joseph Yarber is the leading rusher on Cajon. The senior has carried the ball 143 times for 772 yards and 6 scores. Daniel Fortune can also run the ball for the Cowboys.

The defense is anchored by Johnathan Perkins who leads the team with 141 tackles and Jeremiah Martin who has an amazing 24 sacks so far this season. The secondary is patrolled by Jhevon Hill and Rodney Robinson.

The Rams are led by senior quarterback Jeff Miller. The senior has thrown 219 completions for 3,455 yards and 37 TDs. Miller was sensational in last week’s quarterfinal game against over Glendora. He threw 7 touchdown passes, five of which went to Gio Sanders.

The senior leads the Rams with 89 receptions for 1661 yards and 23 touchdowns. Sanders is also a star on defense and leads Murrieta Mesa with 6 interceptions. Cayden Chambers is another dangerous receiver for the Rams with 49 catches s for 726 yards. He caught 6 touchdown passes.

Kai Thompson can do it all for Murrieta Mesa. He ran for 100 yards very game and gained over 1,600 yards on the ground. He also caught 51 passes for 390 yards. He scored 23 TDs combined. Christian Shakir-ricks is also a threat on the ground and in the air for the Rams. Place kicker Nick Sibilla is consistent and a unspoken hero.

Middle linebacker Jordan Atkinson anchors the Murrieta Mesa defense along with Jeremiah Queen. Collin Layton had an amazing 11 sacks to lead the Rams in that category and Daemahni Williams had 3 interceptions for Mesa.

The Rams will need another amazing night from their starters Friday against Cajon in the Division 4 Semifinal game. So far, this has been the “Year of the Ram” and the team really believes.
