HS Football: Paloma Valley Dominates San Jacinto 49-8 in their CIF Southern Section Division 5 Playoff Opener

Quarterback Chance Nolan Throws for 4 TDs & Runs for 2 to Lead the Wildcats Past the Tigers

Paloma Valley dominated San Jacinto in their 49-8 victory in the opening round of the CIF Southern Section Division 5 Playoffs Friday. An explosive 35 point second quarter was all the Wildcats needed to secure the victory.

Just take it as a new season,” Paloma Valley head coach Tom Tello said. “We get an opportunity to get another week and that’s what we’re trying to go for. We earned another week tonight. We’re excited about that.”

Quarterback Chance Nolan was on fire. He threw for 4 touchdowns and ran for 2 more as he led the Wildcats past the Tigers. He amassed 377 passing yards in just a bit more than two quarters.

Both teams started slow. Paloma Valley scored on their third drive on Nolan’s first TD pass to Seth Carvalho for 80 yards in the first quarter.

In the beginning of the second, San Jacinto punted. Nolan connected again to Koale Schroeder with a 57 yard score. San Jacinto then lost the ball when a snap went over punters head. Nolan capitalized immediately, hitting l Schroeder again to make it 21-0.

A Tigers punted on their next possession. Nolan hit deep to Schroeder again to go inside the 20. Nolan ran a keeper and it was 28-0. Another San Jacinto punt another Wildcat score. Nolan hit Tyrese Tillman on a screen pass to get it to the 1. Tillman ran it in on the next play to make it 35-0.

Steven Bradshaw, Phillip Mills and the Wildcats hard-hitting defense forced another 3 and out to set up another Tiger punt. This time, Nolan went deep again to Mason Carvalho who made an amazing one handed catch for the TD. The first half ended 42-0.

In the second half Nolan hit Schroeder again. This time it was from 52 yards out on the first drive of the half. It was nowt 49- and that started Paloma Valley resting its offensive and defensive starters. The Tigers moved the ball a little better against backups.

San Jacinto finally got on the board in late the third quarter. Freshman quarterback Kajiya Hollawayne who mixed the pass an run to move the ball into the end zone.It would be the only points for the Titans in the game.

Paloma Valley will next face Yucaipa at home in the CIF Southern Section Division 5 Quarterfinals on Friday. The Thunderbirds walked all over La Quinta 43-10 in their opening game.
